In addition to yesterdays video featuring the Guild Wars 2 city of Lion's Arch, Arena.Net Content Designer Matthew Medina has written a new blog post about the creative process behind the largest free city in Tyria.
With design production well under way, I reach out to the world and story designers and schedule a meeting, where I can sit down with all of them and ask the questions that I've been gathering for a while. This is an informal meeting, where we sometimes bat ideas back and forth, and even explore tangents. For example, in the Lion's Arch meeting, someone asked whether a charr who lived in Lion's Arch owed their allegiance first to their legion, or whether they considered themselves an "Archer" first. The answer to that question-charr naturally put their legion above anything else-led to further discussion about charr warbands and how they are structured, which in turn helped me to understand some of the themes I will be able to explore when designing the Black Citadel.
